Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability extends to everything we do- from ingredient sourcing to product packaging, shipping, and marketing. We only print on 100% post-consumer recycled content. Our shipping boxes are made from 100% post-consumer recycled content, and our wholesale orders are shipped in recycled boxes. Our ingredients are sourced locally and sustainably by giving preference to local farmers and artisans, and seeking out sustainable agricultural communities around the world producing the most flavorful chocolates, spices, and salts.

Recycling

Everything we print is done so on 100% post-consumer recycled content-from the labels on our products to our in-house paperwork. Our shipping boxes are made from 100% post-consumer recycled content. The bubble wrap we use is recyclable and biodegradable in a landfill. The paper that protects and cushions our shipments is 100% recycled and recyclable. The boxes we ship our wholesale orders in are recycled. By communicating with our customers and fans primarily through email, we are using less paper, creating less waste, thereby conserving natural resources.

Sustainable Agriculture

We establish direct relationships with the local farmers and artisans who are growing and cultivating the ingredients we use in our desserts and retail products. We visit them at the source, getting to know them and their farming practices, playing with their lovable farm animals, and ensuring that we are using ingredients of the highest quality and sustainability. We are reducing our carbon footprint by buying ingredients locally, and from farmers using organic and sustainable practices.

Connecticut Grown

The Connecticut Grown Program helps promote Connecticut farmers and producers. To qualify for the program and carry the Connecticut Grown seal, a producer must use at least 51% of Connecticut grown ingredients in their product. Peace Tree Desserts is proud to use more than 51% of goat’s milk from Connecticut family farms in our line of Cajeta Caramel sauces.
